What makes Repot's potting soil different from garden centre compost?
Most garden centre compost is designed for outdoor beds and borders, not the smaller pots and different watering needs of houseplants. Our mix is blended specifically for indoor plants, well-draining, peat-free, and free from the mystery additives you'll find in big bag composts.
What if my plant doesn't thrive after using your soil?
We stand behind our soil, but plant care has a lot of variables beyond soil quality — light, watering, and pot size all play a part. If something feels off, get in touch and we'll help you troubleshoot or make it right.
Where do you ship to, and how long does UK delivery take?
We currently ship across the UK, with most orders arriving within 2 working days of dispatch. You'll get a shipping confirmation email with tracking details as soon as your order is on its way.
How do I store an opened bag of soil?
Reseal the bag tightly after each use and keep it somewhere cool and dry, away from direct sunlight. This keeps the soil from drying out or attracting pests, so it stays ready for your next repot.
Can I mix this with my existing soil, or use it on its own?
Our mix is designed to be used on its own straight from the bag. If you do want to combine it with existing soil, do so in small proportions first to make sure the drainage and texture stay consistent for your plant.
Do I need to add drainage material, or is it already in the mix?
Our blends are already formulated with drainage in mind, so you don't need to add extra grit or perlite for most house plants.
How often should I repot my houseplant?
Most houseplants need repotting every 12-18 months, or when you notice roots circling the pot's edge, water running straight through, or growth slowing down. Fast growers may need it more often; slow growers like cacti can go a couple of years between repots.
Is this soil safe for pet-friendly homes?
Our soil itself contains no toxic additives, but please note that many common houseplants (not the soil) are toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or eaten. Always check your specific plant species if you share your home with pets.
Can I use this soil for outdoor plants or is it houseplant-only?
Our blends are formulated specifically for indoor houseplants and their smaller pots, so they're not designed for garden beds or large outdoor containers. For potted patio plants in similar-sized containers, our mix can still work well.
How much soil do I need for a 10-12cm pot?
As a rough guide, 1 litre of soil will fill two 10cm pots or one 15cm pot. If you're repotting several plants at once, our large bags and bundles work out better value.
How do I know which soil is right for my plant?

Is your packaging recyclable or reusable?
We use resealable bags designed to keep your soil fresh between repots, so you're not left with a bulky, half-used sack taking over your hallway.
Do you offer a mix for cacti and succulents specifically?
Yes. Our Cactus & Succulent Potting Mix is blended to drain fast and avoid the damp, compacted conditions that cause root rot in these plants. It's available on its own or as part of a repotting kit with pots included.
What's the difference between your regular mix and the chunky mix?
Our regular House Plant Potting Mix is a finer blend suited to most leafy houseplants. The Chunky mix contains bark and extra perlite for more drainage and airflow, making it ideal for plants that hate sitting in damp soil, like araceae, aroids and epiphytes.
Is Repot's soil really peat-free, and why does that matter?
Yes, all our blends are 100% peat-free. Peat bogs take thousands of years to form and store huge amounts of carbon, so harvesting peat for compost damages a valuable ecosystem. We use sustainable alternatives that give your plants the same (or better) results.
Is your soil suitable for all house plants, or do I need a specific blend?
Our House Plant Potting Mix works well for most common house plants. Cacti, succulents, and other specialist plants prefer a chunkier, faster-draining mix, so we make a separate blend for those. Not sure which one you need? Use our Find Your Soil tool.
What's actually in your potting mix?
Our blends all start with a coco coir base, then a selection of ingredients chosen for drainage, aeration, and nutrition are added, depending on the blend. Head to each product page for the full ingredient breakdown for that specific blend.
What is coco coir?
Coco coir is a natural fibre made from the husk of coconuts, and it's the base of all our potting mixes. It holds moisture well without becoming waterlogged, drains better than peat, and is a renewable by-product of the coconut industry rather than a slow-forming, limited resource like peat. It's also pH-neutral and free from weed seeds or pathogens, making it a clean, plant-friendly growing medium.
What is the return policy?
We offer a 30-day return policy on all plants and repotting supplies. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply contact us within 30 days of delivery with your order number. We'll arrange a return and provide a full refund or replacement. Please note that plants must be in their original condition to be eligible for return.
